Last night - L'altra notte

Last night I woke up
on a trail of rose buds
with the sound of my dreams
piercing through my ears.

In the dim light of the darkness
between night and day
I could see the shape of your body
lying next to me.
I could feel the warmth of your skin
evaporating like sweet morning dew.
I could hear your heart thumping
gentle and strong like your arms
wrapped around my naked body.

I tried to reach out to touch you, but
all I held in my hands
were a thousand grains of sand.

When I opened my eyes wide:
a sense of cold anguish washed over me
while I looked for you among the shadows,
but you were gone.

So
to soothe the pain,
I fell asleep again.

L’altra note mi sono svegliata
su un sentiero di boccioli di rosa
con il suono dei miei sogni
a trapanarmi i timpani.

Nella luce sfocata del buio
tra giorno e notte
potevo scorgere la forma del tuo corpo
sdraiato accanto a me.
potevo sentire il calore della tua pelle
evaporare come la più dolce rugiada.
Potevo quasi sentire il tuo cuore battere
gentile e forte come le tue braccia
intorno al mio corpo nudo.

Ho provato ad allungarmi per toccarti, ma
tutto ciò che tenevo fra le dita
erano milioni di granelli di sabbia.

Quando ho spalancato gli occhi:
un senso di fredda angoscia
mi ha inondato
mentre ti cercavo
in mezzo alle ombre, e
tu eri scomparso.

Quindi
per calmare il dolore,
mi sono riaddormentata.
